Farm Wrap-up
There
were questioning looks on the faces of the
participants when our erstwhile cruise leader
past blame to his navigator even before we
departed. Mr. Wenzel does not have a stellar
record for navigation, having come in dead last
at last years Bug Juice Rally. But everyone got
behind our lead dog and headed off to Kimball
Farms. The ride was scenic and the weather was
“top down” perfect. The route was imaginative
back roads but it did differ from the
instructions. But, in the end we all arrived at
the same, rather amazing, location.
Kimball
Farms has food, ice cream, shopping, bumper
boats, batting cages and lots more. We all had
lunch and topped it off with some of the best
ice cream we have ever had. And for this group
of ice cream lovers that is saying a lot. Some
even tackled the Banana Split although not
without help. After lunch, rain drops were felt
and it sent everyone scrambling back to the
Vettes to get the windows and tops up. The few
drops then turned into a downpour. We stayed dry
and watched brave souls continue to ride the
bumper boats in the rain. For some reason, this
gave encouragement and bravado to some of our
members to man the boats. We took the
opportunity to crash into our friends without
worry of anything more than a return splash. The
storm was gone and we headed home as another
event became a memory.
